“Decorum, delegates!” is going to be my band name

I just watched the Parks and Rec episode where they do a mock UN, and all hell breaks loose. I just want to go on record as saying that while meant to be funny, it is actually an extremely accurate depiction of how these things work.

I did mock UNs all through high school. In the 2007 meeting, I was randomly assigned the role of Colin Powell.

As a reminder, I looked like this (second from the left):

That year, the GA and Security Council voted on a resolution to shut down every other council. I was in HR at the time, and when a delegate came to announce that we were being disbanded, I stood up and said, “As Colin Powell, I represent America, and America has veto power in this assembly, so you can leave. We’ll carry on.” Did America have veto power? Who knows. No one cared.

That was also the year that the representative from Denmark showed up with viking horns and no shirt.
